Price To Pay
I want to be a millionaire,
Chorus: All the finer things in life/ They all come at a price,
Two stacked pennies and you can't go wrong,
And I want to change my life, but I just don’t really care,
My final answer is this/ If you don’t get up to see what you’ve missed,
Then you’re missing out.
Are you willing to pay?
Pay the band some money and you’ll hear them play your song,
You better get off of your seat/Get out and get up on your feet,
Or you’re missing out.
The Pond Monkeys aren't shy about their hatred for pop culture references in rock songs. It is of the bands' opinion that Smash Mouth, the Barenaked Ladies, LFO, and just about any rap group should all be burned at the stake. But sadly, under the pressure to get seven songs written for their demo recording, a Regis Philbin show made its way into "Price To Pay"'s lyrics. The phrase "two stacked pennies" came from a science professor by the name of Mrs. Victoria Sewell who used the term to describe how many coins should be dropped into a cup of sulfuric acid to perform an experiment correctly.
